Competitions & Grants

To encourage young designer-silversmiths, the Curatorial department runs two schemes:

The Young Designer Silversmith Award

An annual design competition open to full-time students under 30 in the UK on an approved BA Hons or MA course. The winning design is made by the student under the guidance of a master-craftsman in a leading silversmithing workshop. The finished piece is presented by the Company to the appropriate major museum nearest the college for its collection of contemporary decorative arts.

Student Silver Bullion Grants

Silver bullion grants of £400 each for silversmithing students currently full-time at college. Selection is by their tutors following approval from the Curator.
