Industry Training

For many years we have offered training to help meet the ongoing challenges and opportunities the industry faces.

Continuing Professional Development

Industry TrainingOngoing professional development is a key element of our work. We have developed a portfolio of specialist professional development activities to support undergraduates, postgraduates and those who are already established within the industry.

Getting Started is our annual one-week introductory business course for recent jewellery and silversmithing graduates from across the UK.

We also sponsor and manage the last formal indentured Apprenticeship scheme in the UK, designed for young people aged 16–21 wishing to enter the industry as trainees in London and the South East.

SPECIALIST Training

MasterclassesWe actively encourage specialist training and the uptake of technological skills for those in their mid careers. The Department puts on Masterclasses held by specialists in their field and most recently has developed a suite of Masterclass DVDs which are available to the UK craft and industry.

laser training

laser spot welderThe department has a state-of-the-art Rofin Baasel laser spot welding machine. We run training courses on this throughout the year to allow members of the industry to practice on this equipment prior to making the investment in their own workshops.

If you are interested in taking part on one of these courses please get in touch.
